Charity's unique partnership with the building industry is recognised by the voluntary sector.
CRASH has been voted eighth place this week in Third Sector's Britain's Most Admired Charity Awards (BMAC) 2006 – the only awards voted for by the charities themselves.
BMAC recognises good practice and celebrates the vital contribution by the voluntary sector towards the country's economy. CRASH was nominated for its innovative corporate partnership with the construction and property sectors in alleviating homelessness in the UK.
Readers of Third Sector – an essential weekly news magazine for professionals and managers working in UK charities and not–for–profit organisations – were asked for nominations for the awards, from which a shortlist was drawn up. Chief Executives of the 500 largest charities then ranked their top three choices.
Stephen Cook, Editor of Third Sector says:
"The results are fascinating pointers to the activities and qualities that are held in high esteem by people working at senior levels in the sector. There are clear trends running through the names of the winners and shortlist – boldness, ambition, inventiveness, perseverance and an unswerving dedication to their work and the needs of beneficiaries."
Tom Biddlecombe, the charity's Director, said:
"We are absolutely delighted as this is the first time CRASH is shortlisted for a BMAC award. It is an honour to be listed amongst key players in the charity sector and to be voted for by our peers in the sector."
**He added:**
*"Without the building industry's support, CRASH would not be able to do what it does. So this recognition is as much for the many companies across the UK from construction and property sectors, who has helped our work. We would like to thank them for their dedicated support since the charity was founded in 1991."*
