Ian Tyler, Chief Executive of Balfour Beatty, has pledged his full support to industry charity CRASH and encouraged other companies to do the same at the bi-annual CRASH council meeting on Tuesday 20th October. 

Tyler, who took over as President & Chairman of CRASH from Sir Christopher Wates in 2006, said:

“CRASH is an organisation which I believe in passionately….CRASH is a great deal more than simply a charity which tries to help the homeless. It is a charity which belongs to the UK’s construction and property industry and in that sense it is very different, perhaps even unique.”

The council meeting was held at the SW1 Galleries in Victoria, which was generously donated to CRASH for the day by CRASH Patron Partner Land Securities. Amongst those who attended were representatives from CRASH’s Patron Partners and other key figures from the construction & property sector and the homelessness sector.

Speakers at the event included CRASH Chairman & President Ian Tyler, CRASH Chief Executive Francesca Roberts and representatives from several of the projects that CRASH has supported over the last year. These included Chief Executive of Centrepoint Shey Obakin, Martin Patterson and Chris Fields from St George’s Crypt, Leeds, and Kim Conneley from City Roads, London. Guests also heard from Will Woodward of EC Harris and Tim Spencer of Mansell who have been part of the CRASH Patron Partners initiative to involve more staff of Patron companies directly with homelessness projects.

For the second year running the meeting also featured an awards section, dedicated to highlighting those Patron Partners who have gone ‘above & beyond’ in their support of CRASH during the last year. Prizes were awarded as follows;
