In December last year, an enthusiastic team from Mansell plc donned their DIY finery and responded to a call for help from Bruce House, a Centrepoint Hostel for young people.
Christmas can be a particularly tough time for the residents of Bruce House as many of the young people living there don’t have families they can visit during the holidays, and it was felt that a much-needed redecoration of some the flats would help to raise spirits; so Centrepoint approached CRASH for our help and we in turn approached Mansell.
A project manager from Mansell duly undertook a pre-visit of Bruce House and after this initial assessment it was agreed that Mansell would redecorate 6 flats. Not only did Mansell generously supply their staff time for free throughout the whole process, but they also supplied the paint and equipment free of charge.
The current residents of the 6 flats were consulted on paint colours for their rooms and a team of volunteers from various departments within Mansell joined together to spend 3 days in December re-decorating the flats, which were ready in time for Christmas.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Mansell for all their help and their generous contribution of time, man-power & equipment to this project. We’d also like to make special mention of the team of volunteers who kindly gave their time to assess the needs of Bruce House and undertake the redecoration of the 6 flats – thank you all for your hard work and enthusiasm on this project.
The value of Mansell’s generous contribution came to £6,000; the value of the happiness it brought to Bruce House residents is priceless.
