In the picturesque surroundings of the Windsor Great Park on Sunday 27th September, over 4,500 people donned their running shoes to take part in the 27th annual Windsor Half Marathon. Blue skies and a hot sun made for a beautiful day for us spectators but it was tough going for runners so congratulations to everyone who made it to the finish line and our commiserations to those who didn’t, but I hope that won’t put you off trying again next year.
The CRASH team spent the day manning the Golden Bond Runners tent and we were thrilled to see so many familiar faces as well as new ones throughout the day. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive at this event, both from those taking part and the people who generously sponsor them, and to the Run Windsor team who generously allow us to benefit from the event alongside The Prince Philip Trust.
At the current time, CRASH had been pledged a fantastic £6,682 through sponsorship and will also be receiving a proportion of the entry fees which will be presented to CRASH at the Windsor Half Marathon Awards evening in November.
I’d also like to make special mention to the following people from CRASH’s Patron companies who raised the highest amounts of sponsorship for CRASH at the 2009 Windsor Half Marathon. These are Patron company Carillion whose Windsor Half Marathon Team raised £2,212, and Alison Thorne, also from Carillion (Team T5C) who is the individual from a CRASH Patron company to raise the most amount of sponsorship, at £493.
Congratulations and our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part this year and we look forward to seeing you at the 2010 Windsor Half Marathon event!
