We promised every penny from the Hard Hat Appeal funds of £275,000 will go directly to the projects we help. This page explains how this was done. CRASH also addded value to these funds by sourcing materials from our supporters at cost, or sometimes free of charge. Bricklayers Arms – WiganCRASH has allocated £35,000 to help cover some of the building work costs to convert a former pub into a day centre with four self contained flats to provide supported accommodation for stabilised clients. The plan is to create a day centre on the ground floor and office accommodation on two upper floors. Gilead Foundation – OkehamptonThe Gilead Foundation is based on a 320 acre dairy farm and accommodate both male and female students who receive mental and physical rehabilitation from drug and alcohol abuse. It is also a practical training centre giving everyday practical work in which the students gain work experience and gain qualifications. Currently housed in mobile homes, they are seeking help with creating three new houses each of which will house up to 12 students. CRASH has donated £20,000 to this project. Thames Reach Moving In, Moving Out (MIMO) – LondonPart of Thames Reach facilities for their ex–homeless clients who are ready to move on, MIMO provides training in painting and decorating. They would like to improve their premises to provide a training facility that enhances learning and adheres to health and safety. They would like help with the planning in order to improve the physical space and storage facilities. In addition, the kitchen area requires improving and the door to the bathroom requires widening to provide wheelchair access. CRASH has allocated £18,500 to help improve this facility. The Rock Trust – Edinburgh
The Rock Trust provides a drop–in centre and supported accommodation to enable its young homeless clients aged between 16 and 25 years old. Its objective is to develop the personal, social and practical skills, as well as the sense of self worth, necessary for independent adult life.
