Why CRASH needs Patrons
CRASH owes its existence to those generous
patron companies that have pledged
financial and practical support for our work for a minimum period
of three years.
Patrons are asked to nominate the Managing Director, Chief Executive
Officer or a senior Director to represent the company on the CRASH
Council, which meets twice a year (usually March and September).
The benefits of being a Patron
Recent research shows consumers consider homelessness to be
the second most important issue (after children) that business
should support. And yet we know from the same research (by Bain &
Company) that very few businesses have homelessness on their agenda
for corporate community involvement.
The benefits to your company are listed below.
1. Building Business
- Attract and retain customers - your company has a human
heart.
- Provide positive PR - CRASH retains a PR manager to
maximise every opportunity to publicise names of companies involved
with CRASH.
- Improve health of business by improving health of
community.
- Networking with the CRASH Patron supporters.
2. Building People
- Improve employee morale - the company has a heart and
links staff with a national need.
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) - volunteer
support for CRASH projects provides opportunity for employees to
develop skills and abilities personally and professionally.
- Provide a recruiting edge - many talented young
people wish to join an organisation that demonstrates a social
awareness.
3. Building your corporate social responsibility
- Enable company to be a better corporate citizen within
the community
- Improve relationships with government and other
stakeholders - the work of CRASH has been acknowledged publicly
by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, the Prime Minister and
Chancellor of the Exchequer. CRASH meets regularly with Ministers
from construction, housing and social exclusion.
- Address business-related social issues - the unique
example of the construction and property industries' initiative
in CRASH is at the centre of the Business Action on Homelessness
Campaign to attract corporate help from the whole business
spectrum.
- Provides community involvement policy allowing your
company to give a clear, positive statement when answering requests
for charitable help.
