CRASH restores roof for a homelessness day centre in Coventry

CRASH helped Coventry Jesus Centre restore the roof of their busy day centre. The new roof will protect many homeless people who visit the day centre.

The charity applied to CRASH to repair the roof of their day centre which had not been modernised in over 20 years and was showing clear signs of damage:

‘‘Without a sound structure, the beneficiaries we help each week would have nowhere to go for showers, clothing or meals. This flat roof covers the whole of the drop-in lounge and its ancillary rooms and the main reception/office hub” said Ann Hawker, Services Manager at Coventry Jesus Centre.

CRASH awarded the charity a cash grant of £9,480 to help with this project. CRASH Patron companies Arcadis and Bauder donated their professional expertise and also involved additional companies in the project, bringing the total value of support to £25,564.

Ann Hawker, Services Manager at Coventry Jesus said:

‘‘We would like to say a huge thank you to CRASH, Arcadis, Bauder and the General Asphalt Company for all their hard work in assessing the condition of our flat roof, determining the best solution to provide a new waterproof roof, and carrying out the work within a very tight time-frame.  The finished result is fantastic and will help us to continue to provide a safe and welcoming space for our visitors in our basic needs drop in.’’
