The Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge raises over £21,000 for CRASH in its 21st year

The Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge returned for its 21st year on Thursday 20th June organised by Gable Events at West Reservoir London, raising an impressive £21,340 for CRASH charity!

The sell-out event was as popular as ever and saw 40 crews from across the industry race to be crowned the 2019 champions.

Each crew raced twice and spent the afternoon in the sun watching magic from onsite magician, comparing fancy dress costumes or trying their luck at the charity raffle. The crews with the fastest times battled it out in the final race…

Reigning champions Morgan Sindall defended their title for a third year and celebrated the win with gold medals and a champagne shower. They beat last year’s PB with a 33.82s sprint over the finish line closely followed by Bam Construct, Blenheim Construction and AKTII in fourth place.

Bouygues Energies & Services raised an incredible £3131.19 and were declared Top Fundraisers for the event, winning a Team Sailing Day kindly donated by Sunsail UK. Thank you to all the teams who took part in fundraising and a special mention to Geberit, Eckersley O’Callaghan, Maylim, BAM Construct and KpH Group Ltd for going above and beyond to raise money for CRASH.

We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of teams who made additional entry contributions – Platinum Crews; 8build, Arcadis LLP, BAM Construct UK, Bouygues Energies & Services and Bryden Wood and Premier crews; Argent LLP, Balfour Beatty – 60 Curzon Street Project, Blenheim House Construction and Morgan Sindall C & I.

We were lucky to have support from fantastic companies who donated prizes to raffle: Dulux, Knauf Insulation, St Paul’s Cathedral, Olympic Cinema in Barnes, Pub in the Park Festival, Avenue Cookery School, Coddiwomple Tours and Waterstones – thank you.

CRASH would like to thank our wonderful media partner Building, for promoting the event and featuring it in Building Magazine and online.

The event would not be possible without Gable Event’s expert organisation and enthusiasm to deliver an afternoon to remember. We are hugely grateful to Carol, Merk and the team.
