CRASH is delighted to announce that VolkerFitzpatrick have raised an incredible £10,064 through their Charity Golf Day which took place on Tuesday 4th July at The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club.
23 teams from across the construction industry took part in the day and were welcomed with a bacon sandwich followed by an 18 hole course in the glorious sunshine, regularly passing the Gin & Tonic ‘half way house’ on three occasions. Teams regrouped later in the day for a celebratory dinner, a charity raffle and auction and prize giving presentation to the winners.
Stuart Deverill, Managing Director of VolkerFitzpatrick Building Division, awarded the first prize to PHD Modular Access, followed closely in second place by KJE Carpentry. Stuart then acted as auctioneer encouraging rival companies to bid against each, taking the total funds raised for the event to an incredible £10,064. Stuart said:
‘‘Our Golf Day was a very successful event. It was great to have representatives from CRASH along with us and be able to raise in excess of £10,000 for such a worthwhile cause.’’
“What a magnificent event you have put on and what a generous and overwhelming gift to CRASH. The atmosphere is terrific and clearly everyone is having a good time. The generosity of everyone including the sponsors is really impressive. The funds raised will help CRASH continue our vital work to improve the lives of people who are homeless or need end of life care in a hospice by transforming the buildings they need.’’
The event was organised by VolkerFitzpatrick, led by Ken Alborough, Senior Site Manager of the Essoldo House development and Sally Hill, New Entrant Development Partner.
Sally said: ‘‘All in all it was fantastic day seeing our colleagues, clients and subcontractors all networking and raising such a substantial amount of money for CRASH. We look forward to doing it all again next year!”
