CRASH awards £5,000 grant to Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire thanks to the Worshipful Company of Plumbers

CRASH is delighted to announce that it has awarded a £5,000 grant to Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire, made possible by the generosity of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers and its members.

Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire provide accommodation, support and meaningful work opportunities for up to 17 individuals (known as Companions) who have previously experienced homelessness, social isolation, poverty and a lack of opportunities.

The homelessness charity approached CRASH for help to upgrade their existing facilities. CRASH began by undertaking a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) survey which flagged up a number of issues relating to plumbing and drainage. Thanks to CRASH and the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, the £5,000 grant will be used in association with plumbing works on the charity’s Grade II listed main building, The Old Vicarage.

“Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire are very grateful for the most generous grant from the Worshipful Company of Plumbers towards refurbishing a bathroom. We provide accommodation and meaningful employment for our community of 17 companions who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. Our community, the Old Vicarage in Binley, is a grade II listed building situated close to the centre of Coventry and our companions are very appreciative of the improvements we will be able to make with the Worshipful Company of Plumbers support. Work is scheduled for the Autumn.”

“The Plumbers Charity, part of The Worshipful Company of Plumbers, strive to change lives for the better in everything we do. We are delighted to be supporting CRASH in the excellent work they are doing in Emmaus Coventry. Our vision is to promote better plumbers, better plumbing, better health and better lives, so working with CRASH is really a ‘meeting of minds’ and we look forward to seeing the grant we have awarded being used to create a safe and supportive home for people who have experienced homelessness, social isolation, poverty and lack of opportunities.”
