Construction industry unite to support terminally ill teens at historic world’s first children’s hospice
1. CRASH Corporate Patrons donate over £100,000 of product and professional services to historic Helen & Douglas House, the world’s first children’s hospice
Helen & Douglas House care for terminally ill babies, children, and young people up to the age of 18 in Oxford and the surrounding counties – making every moment count.
The hospice approached CRASH to help create an independent space for teenage patients, predominantly wheelchair users, to hang out, play games, or just step away from the main hospice building.
CRASH Corporate Patrons Arcadis, London Building Control, Masterson Holdings and Reds10 collaborated to create Doug’s Den, a modular building in the hospice’s garden.
“It’s been great having lots for the teens to do in Doug’s Den. If a young person wants to get creative, we’ve got everything they need. If they’re not in the mood for talking, they can blow off steam by playing a video game. If they want a chat over a hot chocolate, we can make them comfortable on the sofa and listen. It is lovely to sit in a space that feels age-appropriate in these situations.”

2. Make the most of the sunshine and Picnic for CRASH!
Picnic for CRASH is the ultimate opportunity for you and your team to get together outside, enjoy the sunshine and fundraise for our vital projects with homelessness charities and hospices.
We’ve created Picnic for CRASH to be a flexible fundraiser so that you and your team can put your own spin on it… you may prefer to have a BBQ or tag it onto a summer party that you already have planned – whatever you decide, by fundraising for CRASH you are helping to construct places that care for people when they need it most.
3. Corporate Patrons take on 100-mile cycle in aid of CRASH
The return of popular cycling event Ride-London saw 19 brilliant CRASH supporters from Corporate Patrons Arcadis, British Gypsum, Hanson UK, Imtech, Morrisroe Group, NG Bailey and Reds10, take part and raise over £17,000 for our work with homelessness charities and hospices.
CRASH can only continue our work supporting vulnerable people across the UK, with the generosity and enthusiasm of wonderful fundraisers like our Ride London team. This year we had our biggest team yet at 19 strong and they truly went above and beyond to make a huge impact.
Are you inspired to take on a challenge in aid of CRASH?
You and your company can also play a huge part in constructing places that care for people by organising or joining a CRASH fundraiser this year. Whether it’s a #picnicforCRASH or something you already have planned, the fundraising team would love to hear from you.
