Creating engaging managers with Hanson’s fundraising challenge

Corporate Patron Hanson have included a fundraising project within their ‘Creating Engaging Managers’ (CEM) programme for a third year. The programme is tailored for a cohort of 15 employees identified as future leaders within the business.

The aim of the fundraising challenge was a ‘Dragons Den’ style task, in which small groups had to brainstorm, develop, and pitch a viable plan for a fundraising activity. The groups then joined forces to deliver the winning idea, chosen by the panel including Gareth Day, Managing Director at Hanson and Francesca Roberts, Chief Executive at CRASH.

The fundraising activity had to be adapted considerably due to feedback and resources available, meaning the team had to be flexible and innovative in their approach. With the FIFA World Cup approaching, they developed a fantasy football competition encouraging an impressive 130 fellow colleagues to join in. Hanson raised £1,908 to support CRASH’s work with homelessness charities and hospices.

The challenge encouraged team-building, creative-thinking and communication to make it a success and the cohort presented back with honest feedback on the success’, lessons learnt and areas for growth for future years.

The 2023 Creating Engaging Managers programme will launch in March, aiming to add to the success of the groups before them.

‘’The Creating Engaging Managers (CEM) programme project is an amazing opportunity to continue Hanson’s support of CRASH and allows the delegates to practice some of the skills that they are developing during the management development programme.’

‘’Thank you to everyone involved at Hanson. The fundraising challenge is a creative way to build the partnership between Hanson and CRASH whilst developing the next generation of leaders within the business. We are delighted to be part of the process and the team should be proud of their efforts to help people who are homeless, and children and adults who need hospice care.’’
