CRASH runners complete the Virgin Money London Marathon in race return, two years since it’s last full-scale event
Runners from CRASH Patron’s Areen Design and Beale & Co raised an incredible £8,000 by taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October.
Paul Hewes, Areen Design and Antony Smith, Beale & Co confidently accepted the challenge to prepare, train and run the iconic 26.2mile course after an influx of applications for the limited spots.
“16 weeks and 400 miles of training and it still hurts! That apart, it was an honour to be able to run for CRASH; it is such an extraordinary charity, and the real motivation was being able to contribute, even in a modest way, to helping people struggling with some of life’s most difficult challenges. The remarkable generosity from everyone who helped is a testament to the high esteem in which CRASH is held. Thank you to everyone for their support.”

“The London Marathon was a great day. The sun shone until the last 600 metres when there was a huge downpour. I know if I had run faster – I would have missed it! However, it was a great honour to be able to run for CRASH. It is an outstanding charity that makes a real difference to the lives of many people across the country, and we are incredibly proud to be partnered with them.”

CRASH usually only receives 1 place every 5 years but due to the cancellation of Ride London, the charity was lucky enough to secure 2 places in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon. This was a welcome addition to CRASH’s fundraising calendar after two years of cancellations and restrictions.
‘’Thank you so much Antony and Paul. This is an incredible achievement and it’s even more special that you have completed it in aid of your industry charity, CRASH; both smashing your fundraising targets! The donations you have raised will help CRASH to create places that care for people who are homeless and children and adults with a life limiting illness. A huge Thank you to you both and to your families, friends and colleagues who supported you’’
