New roof for homelessness charity means they can focus on what they do best

CRASH helps renovate support centre for homeless and vulnerable adults in Nottingham
Emmanuel House support the most vulnerable citizens in Nottingham to tackle isolation, vulnerability and homelessness. They have between 60 and 90 visitors every day which equates to over 23,000 each year.
They offer essential survival services including access to hot food and drinks, the opportunity to change into clean, dry clothing and shower and laundry facilities. They also offer support in the following areas: Mental Health, Tenancy and Resettlement, Benefits and Welfare, Training and Workshops and access to the Nottingham Winter Shelter. Their main aim is to help homeless and vulnerable adults into a home of their own.
Denis Tully, CEO at Emmanuel House, explained they needed to improve their support centre so that they can continue to provide a vital service to homeless people in Nottingham:
‘‘If this environment is not maintained then we would be unable to provide the basic services that help people stay alive. Last year, we served 14,000 hot meals, but people need a safe, welcoming place to sit and eat those meals. Our visitors also need to have access to toilets that are fit for purpose.’’
How CRASH Patrons helped
CRASH helped refurbish the building to create a functional space that is a safe and stable environment for people accessing the service. CRASH focused much of its help on refurbishing the toilet and shower facilities on the ground floor to create a functional, clean and safe space.
- CRASH awarded the charity a cash grant and CRASH Patrons Arcadis, Dulux Trade, Forterra and Hanson donated their skills, time and products to help with the project. The total value of support came to £16,829.
