CRASH Project: St Petrocks, Exeter

For over 19 years, St Petrock’s has been the only resource centre for people who are homeless in the Exeter area and in that time has helped and supported over 10,000 individuals.

The charity has well established partnerships with statutory, voluntary and private sector providers and in partnership with these organisations provides a wider range of housing, health and support services.

The need

Many of their clients struggle to access or afford food, clothing and washing facilities which is where CRASH came in.

How patrons helped

CRASH contacted its patrons for support and provided some professional expertise and awarded the project a cash grant. Working with patron company Grafton Merchanting, the charity was able to help St Petrocks refurbish their showering facilities thus providing a much needed resource for people living on the streets.

The social impact

“Providing fast, accessible and responsive services is key to helping people off the streets, out of homelessness and into more stable lives. We saw a 29% rise, on the previous year, in the number of people seeking assistance from our Advice and Support service and now regularly see 60 clients a day so we are very grateful to have such high quality facilities.”
