Construction industry completes BIG March for homelessness charities and hospices

This March, the amazing people of the construction industry put their best foot forward for homelessness charities and hospices by taking part in the 310,000-step challenge in aid of CRASH.

Teams tackled the diverse March weather, clocking up 10,000-steps a day come rain, wind and snow to fundraise for their industry charity, with team Beale & Co collectively walking over 3,586 miles – a distance that could get them to Cairo, Egypt from their London office!

From long-weekend treks with the family to getting steps in on the golf course, the construction industry has raised a fantastic £5,470 to support our vital work, helping homelessness charities and hospices with their construction projects.

The CRASH team got involved too and a BIG March office leader board helped encourage some friendly competition with the team, with Ella Smithers scooping up first place with a whopping 477,145 steps!

Let’s see how they got on…

Thank you for sharing your stories…

“We really enjoyed the challenge, and the office quickly became very competitive. We walked along canals, parks, country lanes and even in the freezing temperatures of Iceland. We are proud to support CRASH and the vital work they do for homeless people and those who need hospice care.”

Zara Idris

ESG & Foundation Manager at Lords Group Foundation

“This challenge has ignited me to keep healthy in the future, I have every intention of continuing at least 10,000 steps a day and I will remember the March walks in the snow and rain with fondness.”

Matt Dear

Supported Housing Manager at Kairos Community Trust

“The BIG March came at a perfect time as I had just started my training for a half marathon! It’s been great to combine my training for such a worthwhile cause alongside my four-legged running buddy, Tarka.”

Amy Thorburn Walker

Senior Account Manager at SLG Agency

“A huge thank you to every single person and company who marched with us and donated to support our work with homelessness charities and hospices. In March alone CRASH has seen an increase in demand for our services and we could not continue to help the charities who need us without the construction industry by our side. Thank you.”
