Corporate Patron Beale & Co brought the industry together for a Charity Quiz night to raise £3,140 for CRASH charity projects
CRASH Home Heroes get creative for The 2.6 Challenge
The 2.6 Challenge started as an idea from the London Marathon Events team to replace the loss of income caused by COVID-19. The idea evolved into a nationwide effort to Save The UK’s Charities and collectively raised over £10 million.
The construction industry proudly joined in to show their support and solidarity to CRASH and the hospices and homelessness charities we work with. Patrons Arcadis, Bauder, Beale & Co, Geberit, Imtech and VolkerFitzpatrick and many individual supporters all thought of a unique and creative activity inspired by 2.6 and completed their challenge in aid of CRASH Charity.
VolkerFitzpatrick utilised the challenge as an opportunity to come together as a team – virtually – and get the whole business involved.
“CRASH is very close to our hearts and with John O’Grady, our Commercial Director, being one of CRASH’s Trustees, we enjoy raising money for CRASH because it is such a worthwhile cause, especially as it changes people’s lives. Our CRASH annual golf day was cancelled due to Covid-19, which was disappointing, as last year we raised £13,000, so taking part in the 2.6 challenge was a great way to get involved and raise money. We had people around the business having fun and being creative, which was brilliant to see.”

Challenges involved cycling, walking, gardening, baking, rolling and cartwheeling to name a few. The challenges conquered were active, creative, and inspired. Niamh McCann, Project Manager at CRASH, took the challenge over international waters as far as New Zealand and recruited friends from Arcadis and family to complete 26 people doing 26-star jumps.
CRASH is incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, shared the challenge and donated.
“Whether you cycled, cartwheeled, or thought of something extraordinary, every 2.6, 26 or 260 inspired challenge will make a difference. Your support enables CRASH to continue creating places that care for people who are homeless, vulnerable or sick and those who care for them. Thank you for thinking of CRASH and the hospices and homelessness charities we support.’’
