CRASH joins the construction industry’s Open Doors week with a virtual spin!

The Construction Industry’s Open Doors week took place the 18-23 March and this year, CRASH joined with a virtual spin on social media.  If you missed it, not to worry – you can catch up on the weeks content here…

Open Doors is organised by Build UK and supported by construction and manufacturing companies across the UK. Sites and facilities opened their doors to the public and took visitors behind the scenes to showcase the fantastic career opportunities the industry has to offer.

This year, CRASH joined the initiative (virtually) to give an insight into some of the vital homelessness and hospice charity construction projects. With 38 live projects; 19 homelessness and 19 hospice – there were plenty to choose from!

Watch the videos below for a sneak peek at a newly acquired move-on house in Waltham Forest, and to hear from a hospice in Cumbria about the positive impact their building project will have on patients, staff and visitors.

Thank you for joining CRASH’s #OpenDoors24.

Move-on accommodation is vital in a person’s journey from homelessness to independent living.  CRASH is helping to transform this six-bed property into suitable move-on accommodation. The building will undergo a full strip-out, reconfiguration and refurbishment to maximise the space.

When finished, it will mark the charity’s first move-on offering and enable them to provide additional support for residents once they leave their hostel, and ultimately help more people experiencing homelessness.

St Mary’s, Cumbria

St Marys Hospice in Cumbria pulled together this seven-minute video that outlines their building project and nicely sums up the need for CRASH’s work in the sector.

Thanks to generous fundraisers from across the construction industry, CRASH was able to offer an amazing £110,000 grant to this project, alongside support with professional expertise and construction products.

Be proud of it. Be part of it.

CRASH is your industry charity. You can have your say in the projects CRASH supports by telling your local homelessness charity or hospice how CRASH can help to improve their buildings.
