CRASH supporters cycle 100 miles to help homelessness charities and hospices

On Sunday 28th May, 20 CRASH supporters cycled 100 miles to complete Ford Ride London-Essex, raising funds for people who are homeless, and children and adults with a life-limiting illness.

The companies represented on the starting line were AECOM, Arcadis, Beale & Co, Euroclad Group, Kingspan, NG Bailey, Reds10 and VolkerFitzpatrick. Together they raised over £15,000 to support our construction projects helping homelessness charities and hospices.

Team VolkerFitzpatrick also set up a cheer team at the 30-mile mark in Epping to cheer on their colleagues and fellow CRASH supporters.

‘’The 100 mile ride was the longest bike ride I had completed since undergoing spinal surgery in July 2021 and 10 years since I took part in the first RideLondon sportive in 2013. Despite not managing to train as much as I would have liked, an injury I picked up and not knowing whether my back would be up to the distance, I am pleased to say that I managed to complete the course in 5 hours 24 minutes, beating my personal best over 100 miles by 28 minutes. I was pleased to take part for CRASH and to support the wonderful work they do with homelessness and hospice charities.‘’

“Supporting CRASH through these fundraising endeavours allows us to directly contribute to a cause that resonates deeply with the construction industry and Reds10. Fundraising events provide a unique opportunity for us to come together as a community, transcending our individual roles and backgrounds, united in a shared purpose. By participating in these challenges, we not only foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork but also demonstrate our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.”

‘’A huge thank you to everyone who took part in Ford Ride London and to those who kindly donated and supported along the route. We simply couldn’t continue the work with do helping people who are homeless, and children and adults in need of hospice care, without the generous support of our fundraisers.’’
