New roof for homelessness charity means they can focus on what they do best
CRASH is delighted to announce the completion of two new apartments at Blyth Star Enterprises thanks to the generosity and dedication of CRASH Patrons British Gypsum, Knauf Insulation, Dulux Trade and CRASH supporters Lucion Environmental, Altro and Howdens Joinery Co.
Based in Northumberland, Blyth Star Enterprises seeks to help people who are living with complex mental health issues and learning disabilities, in major transitions in their lives. The charity delivers 24 hour supported accommodation to seven people, through their residential rehabilitation services, and helps more than 70 people in their own homes.
When people are referred to Blyth Star Enterprises they are predominantly either in hospital or are homeless. There is a lack of support for people to manage mental health needs and tenancies within the community and therefore Blyth Star Enterprises wanted to establish two ‘step down’ apartments in under-utilised space on the ground floor of their registered office building.
CRASH Patrons British Gypsum, Knauf Insulation and Dulux Trade donated plasterboard, insulation and paint for the two apartments. CRASH supporters Lucion Environmental, Altro and Howdens Joinery donated induction hobs, discounted flooring and offered professional expertise for the project.
The new apartments will enable Blyth Star Enterprises to expand its services to help more people living with complex mental health needs on their journey to recovery.
‘‘The help and support of CRASH has been invaluable in enabling this project to go ahead. I have worked with many charities and organisations over the past 40 years, but none quite like CRASH. The idea behind CRASH, the industry involvement and the practical organisation involved works so well. The new apartments will help people who are living with learning disabilities and complex mental health issues, on their journey to recovery. We cannot thank CRASH enough for their dedication and support with this project.’’
