PiGs Support Shines Bright for CRASH

At CRASH, we are incredibly grateful for the generous support we’ve received from the People in Glazing Society, fondly known as PiGs . This vibrant network of professionals from the glazing sector has gone above and beyond in championing our work, helping us continue our mission to create places that care for people who are homeless or in need of end-of-life support.

Earlier this spring, PiGs own ‘STY Master’ Sarah Ball attended our Spring Reception event, a moment that marked a growing partnership between CRASH and the glazing sector.

Commenting on the event Sarah said, “We are very happy to be supporting CRASH, whose work with homelessness and hospice projects is vital across the UK. The evening highlighted three of CRASH’s flagship initiatives, demonstrating the powerful impact of the construction industry when it comes together for a greater cause. It was inspiring to hear first-hand the difference CRASH is making. As PiGs, we can be a conduit for connecting the glazing sector to projects where support is truly needed.’’

That same spirit of collaboration was recently demonstrated at a CRASH supported project with Emmaus Hertfordshire, a charity that provides housing, meaningful work, and support to people who have experienced homelessness.

When CRASH put out a call for assistance through PiGs Editor George Lewis, the call was answered by Steve Smith of Excel Carpentry Contractors Ltd. Steve generously volunteered to carry out a window condition survey at the Emmaus site. Accompanied by CRASH’s Vipesh Mistry and Trisha Pickersgill, Steve assessed the property and offered expert advice. During the visit, he also identified a pressing safety issue: the need for a replacement fire exit door.

Without hesitation, Steve reached out through his industry contacts and secured a donated fire door, ensuring Emmaus Hertfordshire could meet an essential safety requirement. This proactive generosity perfectly reflects the spirit of network within the construction industry.

The initiative was further supported by Sarah Ball, whose continued outreach alongside George helped bring the right people together at the right time, once again showing how the glazing sector can make a real and lasting impact.

We’re so grateful for relationships like this, where industry knowledge meets real human needs. We look forward to continuing our journey together with PiGs and their amazing community!
